ContentsHow often should you practise?

How often should I work with my child on Watch 'n Learn?

The ideal is twice 15 minutes a day, not counting break and play time. If you work more than that, the child will be saturated and will no longer retain the information.

In general, we give the child a token when they have given the right answer. When they have 10, they can ask for their reinforcer — often, that is playing with us. Filling a token board takes about 5 minutes, sometimes a bit more. Then we play for 3 to 5 minutes. Then we fill another board. After 3 boards, we will have worked / played with the child for about 45 minutes. We do this twice a day.

If the child can work more, we advise you to work on requests (mands), play skills and daily-life skills (grocery shopping, mealtime, etc.) during the remaining time.

How often do I need to retake the training to stay up to date and receive the new exercises?

If you have completed the 4-day training, you can take a 2-day refresher training to keep your access to the exercises and receive the new ones. We will also explain the purpose of the new exercises, and you will be able to ask your questions (about the difficulties encountered over the past year).
